Why I Started Nurse Off Duty Co.

Every business has a story, and mine starts the same way most nursing stories do: with long shifts, tired feet, and a whole lot of heart.

Being a nurse for over 30 years, I know that we give everything to our patients, our units, our coworkers, and our family, often without much left over for ourselves. So I set out to create a company that actually understands what a nurse's day looks like: practical, a little bit funny, and made by someone who gets it.

Nurse Off Duty Co. started as this idea to help support nurses by using humor, sarcasm, and self-care as the basis of the mystery boxes. I wanted to do it differently than all the other online scoop shops. Nurses deserve a mystery box that feels like it was made for them.

I wanted to support nurses in a way that felt fun, familiar, and a little sarcastic. Even the shop’s name is humorous. I mean, what nurse hasn’t told their family they’re off duty when they are at a gathering? We can’t get away from it! Can you look at my wound? Is this infected? Do I need to go to the doctor? Little Johnny has a cough, does he need antibiotics?

Every item, from my survival kits to my nurse-themed gifts, is designed with one goal: to make you feel seen, appreciated, and just a little more prepared for whatever the shift throws at you.
